Question:  How do I set up a DHCP Ethernet connection in Windows??

    •    You must log on to your computer with an account that has computer administrator privileges in order to complete these instructions.
    •    You may need your Windows CD to complete these instructions.

To set up a DHCP Ethernet connection in Windows Vista / 7:
    1.    Determine whether your computer is already configured to connect to the Internet.  If it is already configured, you do not need to complete the following steps.
    2.    Configure your TCP/IP to obtain the IP address and DNS server address automatically and to use the NetBIOS setting from the DHCP server.
    a. Click the Start button.
    b. Select Control Panel.
    c.    Click the Network and Internet link.
    d.    Click the Network and Sharing Center link.
    e.    View your network connections.
    ▪    In Windows Vista, in the left pane, click the Manage network connections link.
    ▪    In Windows 7, in the left pane, click the Change adapter settings link.
    f.    Right-click the icon of your local area connection.
    g.    From the drop-down list, select Properties.
    h.    In Vista, click the Continue button.
    i.    Under This connection uses the following items:, select Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4).
    j.    Click the Properties button.
    k.    Select the Obtain an IP address automatically radio button.
    l.    Select the Obtain DNS server address automatically radio button.
    m.    Click the Advanced... button.
    n.    Select the WINS tab.
    o.    Under NetBIOS setting, select the Default: radio button.
    p.    Click OK.
    q.    Click OK.
    r.    Click the Close button.
    s.    Restart your computer
